장애의 사회문화적 고찰: 여성장애인의 장애 경험에 관한 내러티브적 분석

The Sociocultural Examination on Disability: A Narrative Analysis on the Experiences of a Woman with Disabilities

이 연구는 사회와 문화의 상호작용 안에서 나타나는 현상에 대한 교육적 의미를 도출하는 것으로 연구참여자의 장애 경험을 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이에 따라 장애 경험과 장애 경험의 의미를 가장 잘 드러내는 방법으로 내러티브 연구를 선택하였고 연구참여자가 직접 작성한 장애 경험에 관한 글과 면담을 중심으로 분석하였다. 장애 경험은 ‘말하지 않으면 없는 일이 되는 것’과 ‘사회적 정상성 배우기’로 주제화되었다. 그리고 장애 경험을 통해 도출된 장애에 관한 사회적 환상들은 ‘다른 모습의 삶을 비극적이라는 환상’과 ‘연약(軟弱)한 것은 선(善)하다는 환상’으로 주제화되었다. 이 과정에서 연구참여자가 가진 장애 경험의 의미는 ‘몸에 대한 경멸’, ‘고통스럽게 숨겨야 하는 것’, ‘마주해야 하는 상처’로 나타났다. 이 연구는 질병과 장애를 가진 연구참여자의 사례를 통해 장애 경험을 탐구한다. 이러한 과정을 통해 우리 사회에서 타자화된 장애에 관한 의미를 드러내고, 동시에 풍부한 문화를 형성하는 데 기여할 것이다. 이 내러티브 연구는 질병과 장애를 가진 사람의 경험이 사회에 다양한 관점과 지식을 축적하는 데 기여할 수 있다는 사실을 보여준다. This study aims to explore the experiences of disability of the research participant by focusing on its significance, which appear in her interactions with society. The method of narrative study was selected to reveal the experiences of disability and its meaning. The analysis focused on the articles and interviews on experiences of disability written by the participant. These were thematized as “not speaking about it makes it non-existent” and “learning the social normality.” In addition, the social realities about disability derived from her experience were described as “the one that views a different life as tragic” and “the reality that regards the weak as good.” The results and meanings of the participant’s experiences were “disdain for the body,” “the pain of hiding,” and “coming to terms with injuries.” This study explores the experiences of the participant who has diseases or disabilities. This will reveal the meaning of disability, which has become otherized in our society, while simultaneously contributing to the emergence of a sympathetic culture. This narrative demonstrates that the experiences of these people can contribute to the accumulation of diverse perspectives and knowledge in society.
