Factors Influencing the Persistence of Juvenile Delinquency

이 연구는 일반긴장이론, 사회유대이론, 일반이론에서 제안된 변인들을 사용하여 청소년의 비행지 속에 영향을 미치는 요인을 검증하고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원에서 실시한 아동ㆍ청소년패널조사(KCYPS 2018)의 중1 패널의 2018년(1차)∼2022년(5차)의 자료를 결합하여 이산시간위험모델을 통해 분석하였다. 분석결과 일반긴장이론의 긍정적 자극의 소멸, 친구긴장, 사회유대이론의 부모애착, 교사애착, 학업 열의, 참여, 일반이론의 자기통제력이 청소년 비행지속에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 청소년 비행지속을 줄이기 위한 정책적 제언을 제시하였다. 이 연구는 청소년의 비행지속에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하기 위해 세 가지 비행이론을 사용하여 패널데이터를 통해 종합적으로 검증했다는 점에서 중요한 의미가 있다. 그러나 2차 자료를 활용하여 각 이론의 하위 변수들을 모두 활용하지 못했기에 검증에 한계가 있다.

This study aims to examine the factors that influence the persistence of juvenile delinquency using variables proposed by the General Strain Theory, Social Bond Theory, and General Theory of Crime. To this end, data from the 2018-2022 waves (1st to 5th) of the middle school panel from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS 2018) conducted by the National Youth Policy Institute was combined and analyzed using a discrete-time hazard model. The analysis showed that the disappearance of positive stimuli and peer-related strain from the General Strain Theory, parental attachment, teacher attachment, academic enthusiasm, and participation from the Social Bond Theory, and self-control from the General Theory of Crime influenced the persistence of juvenile delinquency. Based on these findings, policy recommendations to reduce the persistence of juvenile delinquency were proposed. This study is significant in that it comprehensively examined the factors influencing the persistence of juvenile delinquency using three key delinquency theories and panel data. However, the use of secondary data limited the ability to utilize all sub-variables from each theory, presenting a limitation in the verification process.
