Purpose: The purpose is to explore the desirable relationship between artificial intelligence and citizens. To this end, we discuss two perspectives on artificial intelligence as viewed by citizens, and based on this, we propose a desirable relationship between humans and artificial intelligence for sustainable humanity. Method: To achieve the research objectives, literature analysis methods are used. We analyzed papers and reports from researchers on the relationship between Humans and Artificial Intelligence. Results: The types of relationships between humans and artificial intelligence can be divided into the perspective of viewing artificial intelligence as a tool and the perspective of viewing it as a collaborator. Considering the development pattern of artificial intelligence that is rapidly evolving by imitating human cognitive abilities, it would be more appropriate for humans to view artificial intelligence as a collaborator rather than a tool. The reasons are as follows: First, the dimension for the prevention of deterioration of human thinking function and development: If we interact with artificial intelligence as a partner in a social environment, human intellectual ability can be maintained or improved through the connection of thoughts. Second, the dimension of human self-control mechanism operation: If AI is accepted as a tool, it can cause digital social problems such as deepfake by using dependent tools, but if it interacts as a companion, it can operate as social pressure (tension) to control one's behavior. Conclusion: If humans only view AI as a tool, the relationship between the two entities will be fixed as a master-servant relationship, making it difficult to expect dynamic and healthy interaction. This is because a master-servant relationship is like setting a strong boundary between me and the other, which hinders healthy interaction. Ultimately, when humans recognize AI as a companion rather than a tool and form a dynamic relationship, AI can contribute to creative problem solving based on self-regulation and human sustainability.
