명상적 마음챙김과 사회인지적 마음챙김에 대한 이해 및 효과성에 대한 고찰: 교육 현장을 중심으로

A study on the understanding and effectiveness of meditative mindfulness and social cognitive mindfulness: Focusing on school education

본 연구는 사회인지적 마음챙김과 명상적 마음챙김에 대한 이해의 부족으로 마음챙김을 학교 교육현장에 그대로 적용할 시 발생할 수 있는 과오 및 문제점에 대해 고찰해 보고, 시사점을 도출하기 위해 이루어졌다. 현재 우리나라의 마음챙김 관련 교육 및 상담프로그램은 사회인지적 마음챙김과 명상적 마음챙김에 대한 구분 없이 통상적으로 명상적 마음챙김을 마음챙김으로 이해하고 적용하고 있다. 사회인지적 마음챙김과 명상적 마음챙김은 서로 공통되는 부분이 있는 반면, 차이점이 존재한다. 따라서 마음챙김을 학생들에게 적용할 때, 목표설정의 중요성에 대한 환기와 올바른 목표 설정에 따른 기대효과 및 교육적 가치 등에 대해 고찰해보고자 한다. 이를 위해 Langer의 사회인지적 마음챙김과 Jon Kabat-Zinn의 명상적 마음챙김으로 각각 나누어 살펴 보고, 개입에 따른 교육적 효과에 대해 서술하였다. 특히 단기간의 개입이 적절한 교육현장의 구조와 학생들의 프로그램 시행 기간에 따른 선호도 특성상 사회인지적 마음챙김에 대한 교육계의 수요는 계속해서 증가할 것으로 예상된다. 본 연구를 통해 현대교육이 나아가야 할 방향에 대한 모색과 마음챙김을 교육현장에 적용할 수 있는 가능성을 제시함으로써 마음챙김기반 교육이 현장에 쓰임새 있게 보급되기를 기대한다.

This study examines the potential errors and issues that may arise when mindfulness is directly applied to the school education setting due to a lack of understanding of social-cognitive mindfulness and meditative mindfulness. It aims to draw implications by describing the educational effects of interventions based on Langer’s social-cognitive mindfulness and Jon Kabat-Zinn’s meditative mindfulness. In particular, considering the demand for social-cognitive mindfulness in education is expected to continue to grow due to the short-term nature of interventions and the preference characteristics of students according to the program duration, it is necessary to focus on applying a mindfulness-based mindset to the educational field and systematically develop it in the future. Through this study, it is hoped that mindfulness-based education will be effectively disseminated in the field by exploring the direction modern education should take and presenting the possibility of applying mindfulness in educational settings.
