감상 경험과 삶의 연속성에 관한 내러티브 탐구: 미술 전공자의 경험을 중심으로

A Narrative Inquiry into the Continuity of Life and the Experience of Appreciation: Focusing on the Experiences of Art Majors

본 연구는 미술관에서 작품을 마주한 관람자의 내면에 발생하는 변화가 그들의 삶과 어떠한 연속성을 가지며 질적 작품 감상으로 이어지는지에 대한 연구의 필요성을 바탕으로, 관람자의 구체적인 표현을 통해 감상 경험을 분석한 내러티브 탐구이다. 연구의 대상은 연구 참여자들의 감상 경험 중 스스로가 인상적이라고 판단한 하나의 경험을 중심으로 하였다. 연구 문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 관람자의 감상 경험은 어떠한 요소와 상호작용하는가? 둘째, 감상 경험과 관람자의 삶은 어떠한 연속성을 가지는가? 셋째, 관람자에게 감상 경험이 주는 의미와 가치는 무엇인가? 연구의 참여자는 미술을 전공하고 그와 관련된 직업을 가지며, 지속적으로 미술관에서의 감상을 이어가고 있는 2인을 선정하였다. 연구의 분석 틀로는 Clandinin과 Connelly의 3차원적 내러티브 공간을 활용하였다. 그에 따른 연구의 결과로 장소적 차원에서는 개인적 공간과의 연결을, 시간적 차원에서는 예술적 경험의 이어짐을, 상호작용적 측면에서는 정서적 지향성의 흐름을 만들어 내는 것을 발견할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 관람자에 대한 이해를 확장하고, 다양한 관람자들이 깊이 있는 감상을 경험할 수 있는 연구와 실천에 대한 기초자료를 제공한다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

This narrative inquiry explores how museum visitors' internal changes during art encounters connect to their lives and enhance qualitative appreciation, emphasizing the need for vivid personal expressions. Focusing on a single impactful experience per participant, the study examines the elements influencing art perception, its connection to life, and its meaning and value. Two art professionals with ongoing museum engagement participated, and Clandinin and Connelly’s three-dimensional narrative space was used as the analytical framework. The findings reveal that viewing experiences connect to personal spaces (spatial), extend artistic engagement (temporal), and shape emotional orientation (interactional). This research deepens the understanding of museum visitors and provides insights for fostering richer art appreciation.
