This study examines the effects of an integrated approach combining Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and Sand Play Therapy on a 9-year-old boy struggling with emotional regulation related to the Oedipus complex. Initially, he exhibited an intense anger and a strong need for control, externalizing inner conflicts through aggressive play. As therapy progressed, his play themes evolved from “power/control” and “chaos” to “protection” and “resilience”, marking early ego differentiation. In later sessions, themes of “relationships,” “mastery,” and “self-sufficiency” reflected increased social adaptation and emotional stability. Following therapy, the child demonstrated improved emotional regulation, cooperative peer interactions, and positive family communication. Psychological assessments (HTP, KFD) showed a greater emotional stability and a reduced family distance. This case highlights the effectiveness of an integrated Child-Centered Play Therapy and Sand Play Therapy in fostering self-regulation and social development in children.
