Effects of Virtual Reality-Based Education on Intravenous Injection Among Nursing Students

Purpose: This study aimed to assess the impact of virtual reality-based education for teaching intravenous injection skills among undergraduate nursing students. Methods: A nonequivalent control group, pretest-posttest design was implemented. A total of 184 participants (92 in the experimental group and 92 in the control group) were recruited in from Gunsan. Data analyses were conducted using SPSS version 25 for Windows. Results: Upon completing the virtual reality-based education, significant group differences were observed between in intravenous injection skills knowledge (t=5.71, p<.001), confidence in performing intravenous injection (t=6.89, p<.001), and satisfaction in clinical practice (t=2.83, p=.006). Conclusion: The findings suggest that the virtual reality-based education was effective in enhancing undergraduate nursing students’ knowledge of intravenous injec- tion skills, confidence in skill performance, and satisfaction with clinical practice.
