Purpose: This study explores how professional ethics and social responsibility influence university students' advocacy attitudes toward individuals with mental disorders. Methods: A total of 204 students from four universities in the G and J regions parti- cipated in this descriptive survey conducted between February 1 and October 28, 2024. Data were collected using structured questionnaires measuring professional ethics, social responsibility, and advocacy attitude. Multiple regression analysis was performed to identify the factors influencing advocacy attitudes. Results: Significant differences in advocacy attitudes were observed based on students' major subject (t=−2.25, p=.026). Advocacy attitudes showed significant positive correlations with components of professional ethics, including basic ethical standards (r=.17, p=.017), ethical standards to clients (r=.17, p=.016), and ethical standards to colleagues (r=.29, p<.001), as well as components of social responsibility, such as attitude and duty (r=.35, p<.001) and ability (r=.22, p=.001). Multiple regression analysis identified ethical standards to colleagues (β=.20, p=.003), attitude and duty (β=.19, p=.032), practice of social responsibility (β=.18, p=.030), and major subject (β=−.15, p=.023) as significant predictors of advocacy attitudes, collectively explaining 19.0% of the variance (F=13.05, p<.001). Conclusion: Enhancing professional ethics and social responsibility is essential to improving advocacy attitudes among university students. Practical advocacy education programs should be developed to achieve this goal.
