대학 교양교육의 만족-불만족 결정요인 비교분석

A Comparative Analysis of Determinants of Satisfaction and Dissatisfaction in University Liberal Arts Education

본 연구는 대학 교양교육의 질적 제고를 위해 학생들이 경험한 만족/불만족 교양과목을 체계적으로 비교분석하였다. 기존의 교양교육 만족도 연구들이 단순 만족도 측정에 그친 것과 달리, 본 연구는 만족-불만족 교과목의 직접적 비교를 통해 교양교육의 질적 차이를 결정하는 핵심 요인들을 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 226명의 대학생을 대상으로 강의내용, 교수법, 학제 간 관련성, 과목선택 자율성, 평가의 질, 전공선택 영향 등 6개 영역에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 각 영역별로 3-5개의 세부 문항을 개발하여 총 25개 문항으로 구성된 측정도구를 사용하였으며, 분석 결과, 모든 영역에서 만족-불만족 강의 간 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 발견되었다. 특히 교수법과 전공선택 영향에서 가장 큰 효과크기가 나타났으며, 강의내용과 과목선택 자율성도 큰 차이를 보였다. 세부 항목 분석에서는 교육방법의 효과성, 학문적 관심사 발견, 희망과목 일치도에서 가장 큰 차이가 확인되었다. 본 연구는 교양교육의 질적 차이를 결정하는 요인들을 실증적으로 규명했다는 점에서 의의가 있으며, 연구 결과는 교양교육의 질적 향상을 위해 효과적인 교수법 개발, 학생의 자율적 과목 선택권 보장, 진로 탐색 기회 제공 등이 중요함을 시사한다. 이를 통해 교양교육의 질적 관리가 학생들의 학업 및 진로 발달에 중요한 역할을 할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

This study systematically compared and analyzed satisfactory and unsatisfactory liberal arts courses experienced by students to enhance the quality of university liberal arts education. Unlike previous studies on liberal arts education satisfaction that merely measured satisfaction levels, this study aimed to identify key factors determining qualitative differences in liberal arts education through direct comparison of satisfactory and unsatisfactory courses. For this purpose, a survey was conducted with 226 university students across six domains: course content, teaching methods, interdisciplinary relevance, course selection autonomy, quality of assessment, and influence on major selection. The measurement instrument consisted of 25 items total, with 3-5 detailed items developed for each domain. The analysis revealed statistically significant differences between satisfactory and unsatisfactory courses across all domains. Notably, teaching methods and influence on major selection showed the largest effect sizes, while course content and course selection autonomy also demonstrated substantial differences. Detailed item analysis identified the most significant differences in the effectiveness of teaching methods, discovery of academic interests, and alignment with desired courses. This study is significant in that it empirically identified factors determining qualitative differences in liberal arts education. The findings suggest that developing effective teaching methods, ensuring students' autonomous course selection, and providing career exploration opportunities are crucial for improving the quality of liberal arts education. Through this, it was confirmed that quality management of liberal arts education can play an important role in students' academic and career development.
