지역아동센터 종사자 인터뷰를 통해 바라본 미술교육 방향성 및 과제

Art Education Directions and Challenges as Viewed Through Interviews with Community Child Center Staff

지역아동센터는 아동의 전인적 성장을 목표로 방과 후 돌봄 및 교육 서비스를 종합적으로 제공하는 복지 기관으로 전국 단위로 확산하며 양적인 팽창을 거듭해왔다. 그동안 지역아동센터에서 다양한 미술교육 프로그램이 진행되어왔지만, 프로그램 기획 과정과 운영상의 문제점을 내부자의 시선에서 분석한 연구는 찾아보기 힘들다. 이에 본 연구는 지역아동센터 종사자의 인터뷰 내용을 질적으로 분석하여 미술교육 프로그램이 어떤 과정으로 기획·운영되는지 알아보고, 미술교육 활성화를 위한 전략을 제시하고자 한다. 수도권 지역에 위치한 지역아동센터 근무자 10명을 대상으로 반구조화된 인터뷰를 시행한 후, 귀납적 주제 분석 및 축 코딩을 활용하여 미술교육에 대한 종사자의 인식, 종사자가 바라는 미술교육의 목표, 내용, 구성 방식, 그리고 미술교육 활성화를 위한 지원 방향 등을 도출하였다. 분석 결과, 지역아동센터 종사자들은 학습자의 특성을 반영한 맞춤형 분반 수업, 진로 연계 수업 등을 선호하였으며, 이를 실현하기 위해서는 예산 및 행정 인력 지원, 유관기관 연계 강화, 종사자 교육 등 다방면의 정책적 지원이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 지역아동센터 미술교육 활성화를 위한 지원과 투자는 미술교육에 대한 학습자, 학부모, 종사자의 인식을 개선하여 모든 계층의 아동이 양질의 미술교육을 받을 수 있도록 협력적 네트워크 형성을 촉진할 것이다.

Community Child Centers (CCCs) are welfare institutions that aim to foster the holistic growth of children by providing integrated after-school care and educational services. These centers have expanded significantly nationwide, experiencing substantial quantitative growth. Although various art education programs have been implemented in CCCs, there is a lack of research analyzing the planning and operational challenges of these programs from the perspective of internal stakeholders. This study qualitatively examines the processes through which art education programs are planned and operated, based on interviews with CCC staff, and proposes strategies to enhance art education. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten CCC staff members in metropolitan areas. Using inductive thematic analysis and axial coding, the study identified staff perceptions of art education, desired goals, content, organizational methods, and strategies for support to promote art education. The findings revealed that CCC staff preferred tailored classses that reflect learners’ characteristics, such as grouping by skill level, and career-linked programs. To realize these preferences, the study highlights the need for comprehensive policy support, including funding, administrative personnel, strengthened collaboration with relevant organizations, and staff training. Investments in and support for art education in CCCs can improve perceptions of art education among learners, parents, and staff, fostering a cooperative network that ensures all children, regardless of background, receive high-quality art education.
