전통미술교육의 방향 모색: 2022 개정 교육과정 중학교 미술교과서 분석을 중심으로

Exploring the Direction of Traditional Art Education: Focusing on the Analysis of 2022 Revised National Curriculum Middle School Art Textbooks

본 연구는 2022 개정 중학교 미술교과서에 드러난 전통미술교육을 분석한 후, 앞으로 전통미술교육이 나아가야 할 방향을 모색하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 전통미술교육은 미술교육계 안에서 많은 연구와 시도가 이루어지지만, 아직 지도상으로 미흡한 부분이 많으며 교사가 가르치기 어려워하는 분야 중 하나이다. 먼저 전통이 강조되기 시작한 1970년대부터 전통미술교육의 흐름을 살펴본 후 현재 미술교육과정 안에서 이루어지는 전통미술교육을 교과서를 중심으로 분석해 보면서 학생들이 전통미술을 실질적으로 어떻게 접하고 있는지 파악해 볼 것이다. 나아가 전통미술교육이 나아가야 할 세 가지 방향으로 ‘주변환경을 체험하기 위한 최적의 전통미술 재료 및 방법의 탐색, 전통 재료의 속성에 대한 깊이 있는 탐구’, ‘전통 사상 및 미학과 연계한 전통미술교육’, ‘한국적 소재와 미감을 개인적 정체성 및 사회적 보편성과 연결’ 을 제안하고 관련 프로그램 개발 사례를 제시하고자 한다.

The purpose of this study is to explore the direction of traditional art education in the future by analyzing the traditional art education revealed in the 2022 revised national middle school art textbooks. Traditional art education is still one of the areas where many studies and attempts are made within the art education community, but there are still many inadequacies in terms of guidance and it is difficult for teachers to teach. First, this study examines the flow of traditional art education from the 1970s when tradition began to be emphasized, and then analyzes traditional art education in the current art curriculum based on textbooks. Based on these findings, this study explores what could be improved in textbooks. Furthermore, this study proposes three directions for traditional art education: ‘exploration of optimal traditional art materials and methods to experience the surrounding environment, in-depth exploration of the properties of traditional materials’, ‘traditional art education linked to traditional ideas and aesthetics’, and ‘connecting Korean materials and aesthetics with personal identity and social universality’. Furthermore, this study presents program examples related to traditional art education.
