영아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 그림책 읽어주는 부모참여 프로그램의 경험 탐색

Exploring the Experience of a Parent Involvement Program for Mothers with Infants and Toddlers to Read Picture Books

본 연구의 목적은 기관에서 어머니가 그림책 읽어주는 부모참여 프로그램을 통해 어떠한 경험을 하였는지를 알아보는 것이다. 경기도 S시의 G어린이집에서 그림책 읽어주는 부모참여 프로그램에 참여한 어머니 11명과 반구조화된 개별 및 집단 면담을 진행하여 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 개방 코딩을 통해 범주화하여 분석되었다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니들은 자녀에 도움이 되고자 시작했는데 활동의 즐거움을 경험하였다. 둘째, 프로그램에 참여하면서 선생님의 어려움과 역할을 이해하게 되었다. 셋째, 어머니들은 그림책 읽기를 진행할 때 엄마중심에서 아이중심으로 생각해야 한다는 것을 경험하게 되었다. 넷째, 아이들의 반응에 민감해지고 공감을 하게 되었다. 다섯째, 어머니들은 그림책 읽기가 교육을 위한 의무감이 아닌 즐거운 습관이 되어 감을 경험하였다. 여섯째, 어머니들은 그림책만 읽는 것이 아니라 놀이로 연계를 시도하였다. 본 연구결과는 그림책 읽어주는 부모참여 프로그램의 활성화와 부모의 교육적 협력을 통한 양육지원의 필요성을 시사한다.

This study aimed to explore mothers' experiences with a picture book reading parental involvement program at an institution. Data were collected through semi-structured individual and group interviews with 11 mothers who participated in a picture book reading parental involvement program at G Children's Home in S City, Gyeonggi-do. Open coding was used to analyze the data. The findings of the analysis were as follows: first, the mothers initially participated to support their children, but ended up enjoying the activity. Second, the mothers gained an understanding of the challenges and roles of teachers while participating in the program. Third, mothers experienced the need to shift from mother-centered to child-centered thinking when reading picture books. Fourth, they became more sensitive and empathetic to children's reactions. Fifth, mothers found that reading picture books became an enjoyable habit rather than merely an educational obligation. Sixth, mothers tried to make connections through play rather than solely reading picture books. The findings of this study highlight the need to promote parental involvement programs for reading picture books and support parenting through educational cooperation.
