영유아 혼합연령 탐구반의 자연물을 활용한 조형활동 이야기

A Story About Art Activities Using Natural Objects in a Mixed-Age Class of Infants and Toddlers of Tamguban

본 연구는 혼합연령 영유아들의 자연물을 활용한 조형활동에 대한 경험의 의미를 탐색해 보고자 하였다. 연구참여자는 D시에 위치한 S어린이집 영유아 혼합반 만 2세 영아 4명과 만 3세 유아 3명으로 총 7명이었다. 2024년 4월부터 6월까지 총 12주 동안 자연 속에서의 놀이가 이루어졌다. 연구자는 영유아들과의 생활 속에서 참여관찰자로서 영유아들에게 귀 기울이며 계속되는 놀이 속에 생성되는 의미를 발견하고자 하였다. 이렇게 수집된 자료와 심층면담을 통해 연구자료를 수집하여 이를 분석하고 범주화하여 연구결과를 도출하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 자연물을 활용하여 새롭게 시작된 놀이는 재현이 아닌 예측할 수 없는 경험, 재미있고, 창의적인 놀이로 몰입하게 되었다. 둘째, 자연물 조형작품들은 자신만의 독특한 생각과 감정이 표현된 세상에 하나밖에 없는 예술적 놀이 경험이 되었다. 마지막으로, 영유아 혼합반 영유아들은 친구가 되어 서로의 생각과 경험을 나누고, 문제를 해결하기 위해 협력하여 더불어 살아가는 힘이 생겼다. 본 연구는 영유아들의 자연물을 활용한 조형활동을 통해 자연친화적인 태도를 갖게 하고, 예술적 즐거움과 행복감, 안정감 등의 긍정적인 정서가 향상되었다. 또한 자연물 조형활동은 전인적인 발달 등 교육적 의미를 가지며 영유아 혼합연령 반 구성에 대한 시사점을 줄 수 있다.

This study explored how mixed-age infants and toddlers use natural objects in their play, and what this experience might mean for them. The participants were four two-year old infants and three three-year old toddlers, totaling seven participants from the S Daycare Center's Infant Mixing Class located in D city. The study was conducted over a period of 12 weeks from April to June 2024 among the children playing amid nature. The researcher used participatory observation to discover the meaning created by the infants and toddlers in their continuous play in nature. Alongside the data gathered through such observation, in-depth interviews were also conducted. The data were then analyzed and categorized to arrive at the following results. First, the children became immersed in the new experience of playing with natural objects, and it was to them unpredictable, fun, and creative rather than representative. Second, they were able to express their unique thoughts and emotions through the artistic play experience of creating natural sculptures. Finally, infants and toddlers in the mixed-age class became friends, shared their thoughts and experiences, cooperated to solve problems, and gained the power to live together. This activity allowed the infants and toddlers to develop a nature-friendly attitude through modeling activities using natural objects, and positive emotions such as artistic pleasure, happiness, and stability were improved. The findings of this study show that natural sculpture activities lead to holistic educational development and may have implications for the composition of a mixed-age classes for infants and toddlers.
