혁신 확산 이론에 기반한 K-POP 팬의 AI 커버 곡 선택 양상에 관한 연구

A Study on the Patterns of K-POP Fans’ Selection of AI Cover Songs Based on the Diffusion of Innovations Theory

생성형 AI(Generative AI)의 활용이 확산하면서 최근 K-POP 시장에서는 AI 커버 곡이K-POP 팬들을 중심으로 한 대중의 관심을 끌고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 혁신 확산 이론을 적용하여 K-POP 팬들이 AI 커버 곡을 선택하는 데 영향을 미치는 주요 요인을 분석하고자 하였다. 연구 방법으로는 K-POP 팬들을 대상으로 한 심층 인터뷰를 채택하였다. 연구 결과, 혁신 확산 이론의 다섯 가지 속성 중 하나인 ‘상대적 이점’ 측면에서 AI 커버 곡은 기존의 전통적 커버 곡과 비교해 팬들에게 몰입감과 독창적 경험을 제공하며, 새로운 음악적 가치를 창출하는 것으로 나타났다. ‘합치성’에서는 AI 커버 곡이 팬덤의 기존 문화와 자연스럽게 융합될때 수용이 확대되는 반면, 기존 팬덤의 가치 체계와 충돌할 경우 수용이 제한되었다. ‘복잡성’ 의 경우, 기술적 장벽이 높을수록 팬들의 참여가 어렵기 때문에 신기술에 대한 접근성을 높이는 것이 중요한 과제로 확인되었다. ‘시도 가능성’에서는 무료 체험 기회와 간단한 튜토리얼이팬들의 긍정적 경험에 기여하였으며, ‘관찰 가능성’에서는 팬 커뮤니티 내 긍정적인 피드백과공유 활동이 다른 팬들의 수용을 촉진하는 주요 요인으로 작용하였다. 본 연구는 AI 기술을활용한 음악산업의 전략적 방향 설정과 팬 경험 향상을 위한 실질적인 시사점을 제공할 수있을 것으로 기대된다.

With the expansion of generative AI applications, AI cover songs have recently drawn significant attention in the K-POP market, particularly among K-POP fans and the general public. This study aims to analyze the key patterns in K-POP fans’ selection of AI cover songs. In-depth interviews with K-POP fans were conducted as the research method. The results revealed that, among the five attributes of the Diffusion of Innovations Theory, AI cover songs provide fans with immersive and unique experiences while creating new mu sical value in terms of relative advantage, compared to traditional cover songs. Regarding compatibility, acceptance of AI cover songs increased when they seamlessly integrated with the existing culture of fandom, whereas conflicts with the value systems of tradi tional fandoms restricted their acceptance. In terms of complexity, it was found that higher technological barriers made it more difficult for fans to participate, highlighting the im portance of improving accessibility to new technologies as a critical task. Regarding trial ability, opportunities for free trials and simple tutorials contributed to positive fan experiences. Finally, in terms of observability, positive feedback and sharing activities within fan communities were identified as critical factors that promote the acceptance of AI cover songs among other fans. This study is expected to provide practical implications for setting strategic directions in the music industry utilizing AI technology and enhancing fan experiences.
