자본주의 시대, 도시공동체에 관한 인문학적 성찰 - 유교공동체사상의 이해를 중심으로 -

Humanistic Reflections on Urban Communities in the Capitalist Era - Based on the Understanding of Confucian Community Thought -

오늘날 대부분의 사람들이 도시라는 공간에서 살아가고 있으며, 거주한다는 것은 문화, 사상, 가치 모든 것에 영향을 주고받는 중요한 일이다. 도시라는 공간은 사람이 보다 더 편리하게 더 잘살려는 욕구에서부터 사람들이 모이면서 생긴 터전이지만 그것이 인위적 공간으로서 재생산되면서 본래의 기능과는 달라지기도 했다. 특히 물질만능주의, 자본주의의 시대 속을 살아가는 현대사회에서 도시는 자본의 도시이자, 소비의 도시가 되었다. 서울이라는 도시공동체는 본래 유교사상을 토대로 만들어진 의례의 도시이자 사람사는 공동체로서의 의미를 지니고 있었다. 하지만 오늘날 서울은 세계에서 손꼽히는 대도시이자 자본주의를 상징하는 중심도시가 되었다. 도시를 살아가는 우리들에게 서울이라는 상징성은 곧 서울을 어떻게 이해하느냐에 따라 우리가 살아가는 곳에 새로운 의미를 되새겨줄 것이다. 서울이라는 도시공동체가 물신주의의 자본의 도시가 아닌 사람다운 도시의 공동체로 나아가기 위해서는 사람과 사람이 소통하고 공감하는 노력이 필요하다. 그러기 위해서는 옛 선조들의 지혜와 삶의 양식을 다시금 되새겨 우리가 처해있는 당면 문제에 대한 성찰과 함께 소통하고 공감하는 공동체를 위한 다양한 시도들이 계속 이루어져야 할 것이다.

Today, most people live in a space called a city, and living is an important task that influences everything culture, thought, and value. A space called a city is a place created by people gathering from people's desire to live more conveniently and better, but as it was reproduced as an artificial space, it changed from its original function. In particular, in the modern society living in the era of materialism and capitalism, a city has become a city of capital and a city of consumption. The urban community of Seoul was originally a ceremonial city based on Confucian ideology and had a meaning as a community of people. Today, however, Seoul has become one of the largest cities in the world and a central city that symbolizes capitalism. For those of us living in the city, the symbolism of Seoul will soon remind us of a new meaning in the place where we live, depending on how we understand Seoul. In order for the urban community of Seoul to become a human city community rather than a capital city of physicalism, efforts to communicate and empathize are required. To do this, it is necessary to reflect on the wisdom and lifestyle of our old ancestors, reflect on the current problems, and make various attempts for a community that communicates and empathizes.
