장년여성의 친부모 전담돌봄 경험에 관한 질적연구: 전담돌봄의 맥락과 관계 변화 및 의미를 중심으로

A Qualitative Study on the Experience of Middle-Aged Women as Primary Caregivers for Their Parents: Focused on the Context of Caregiving, the caregiver’s relationship Change and its Meaning

본 연구의 목적은 친부모돌봄 및 간병의 주체인 장년여성이 직면한 전담돌봄의 맥락과 관계 변화를 포함한 총체적 현실을 심층적으로 이해하는 것이다. 이를 위해 친부모돌봄을 전담하고 있는 장년여성 10명과의 심층면담 자료를 분석하였다. 참여자들은 친부모 전담돌봄 과정에서 부모의 돌봄제공자이자 보호자로서의 역할 전이를 경험하고 신체적⋅정신적⋅재정적 어려움에 직면한다. 이들은 돌봄과정에서 일상생활의 우선순위 및 원가족 체계 내외의 관계에서 주요한 변화를 겪으며 돌봄을 지속한다. 친부모돌봄을 전담하는 장년여성은 가족과 사회의 유기적 연계 및 지원과 도움을 통해 돌봄과정에서 당면한 스트레스에 대한 대처와 더불어 독립된 개체로서의 자기실현을 도모할 수 있는 기회를 제공받아야 한다. 이에 전담돌봄 제공자 중심 관점에서 가족 돌봄의 경제적 가치 인정, 공적 돌봄 체계 및 요양보호사 제도 개선 등 정책적⋅실천적 시사점을 제안하였다.

This qualitative study aims to explore the multidimensional lived experiences of middle-aged women functioning as primary caregivers for their parents, with particular attention to the context of cargiving, the caregiver’s relationship change, and its meaning. The collected data of In-depth interviews with 10 middle-aged women solely responsible for caregiving was analyzed. The findings indicate that participants experience a role transition to caregiver and guardian for their parents, encounter substantial financial, physical, and psychological burdens, and sustain parental care in middle of undergoing significant shifts in daily priorities and interpersonal relationships. Middle-aged women serving as exclusive caregivers require systematic societal support to mitigate caregiving-induced stress and facilitate self-actualization through sustained familial and social integration. From a caregiver-centered perspective, policy and practice implication for societal recognition of family cargiving’s economic values and reforms of public system of caregiving and geriatric care workers are suggested.
