Objective: This study aimed to enhance creative convergence competencies of three-year-old children through a child-initiated play approach, utilizing a tinkering-centered STEAM program. The research evaluated the program's impact on fostering children's creative personality, playfulness, and problemsolving abilities. Methods: This study involved 46 three-year-old children from B and I Educare Centers in B District, S City, who were randomly assigned to either an experimental group or a comparative group. A tinkering-centered STEAM program tailored for three-year-olds was implemented from December 11, 2023, to February 2, 2024. The program’s effects were evaluated using independent samples T-tests. Results: The tinkering-centered STEAM program significantly improved creative personality, playfulness, and problem-solving abilities in the experimental group. Conclusion/Implications: This study examined the implementation of a tinkeringcentered STEAM program for three-year-olds, broadening the scope of STEAM education in terms of both age range and methodology. The findings highlight the importance of fostering creative convergence competencies in early childhood to address the challenges of a rapidly evolving era.
