대학생의 과보호지각과 학교참여의 구조적 관계에서 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음과 기본심리욕구 만족-좌절의 매개효과 및 성별 차이

Structural relationships among university students' perceived overparenting, belief in a just world, basic psychological needs satisfaction-frustration, and college engagement

본 연구에서는 대학생을 대상으로 이들이 지각하는 과보호, 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음(BJW), 기본심리욕구 만족-좌절 및 학교참여의 구조적 관계와 성별차이를 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 대학생 총 702명(남:265명, 여:437명)을 분석대상으로 선정하였다. 본 연구 결과 첫째, 과보호, BJW, 기본심리욕구 만족-좌절 및 학교참여 간의 상호 관련성은 모두 통계적으로 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 과보호와 학교참여 간의 관계에서 BJW와 기본심리욕구 만족-좌절은 모두 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 성별에 따른 다집단 분석결과, 총 3개의 경로(BJW → 학교참여, BJW → 기본심리욕구-좌절, 기본심리욕구-만족 → 학교참여)에서 남녀에 따른 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 본 연구에서는 사회에서 주목하는 ‘공정성’과 관련된 심리적 구인인 BJW의 교육적 기능을 고등교육 맥락에서 탐색하였으며, 대학생의 학교참여 증진을 위해 성별도 함께 고려할 필요가 있음을 확인하였다. 이를 토대로 본 연구결과가 대학생의 적극적인 학교생활을 촉진할 수 있는 교육적 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

This study examined the structural relationships and gender differences in overparenting, belief in a just world(BJW), basic psychological needs satisfaction-frustration, and college engagement. The participants of this study were 702 students sampled from a university in Korea. The results were as follows. Firstly, overparenting, BJW, basic psychological needs satisfaction-frustration, and college engagement showed statistically significant correlations with each other. Secondly, BJW and basic psychological needs satisfaction-frustration mediated the the relationship between overparenting and college engagement. Finally, as a result of the multi-group analysis, gender differences in the three paths(BJW → college engagement, BJW → basic psychological needs frustration, and basic psychological needs satisfaction → college engagement) were observed. This study examined the educational function of BJW in the context of higher education and highlighted the need to consider gender differences in promoting college engagement. In light of these findings, implications for enhancing college engagement were discussed.
