노인맞춤돌봄서비스를 제공하는 생활지원사의 돌봄 경험에 관한 연구

A Study on the Care Experiences of life Support Workers Providing Customized Care Services for the Elderly

본 연구는 생활지원사가 경험하는 돌봄서비스 수행 경험의 의미를 분석하고, 이를 통해 노인맞춤돌봄서비스의 질 향상을 위한 방안을 고찰하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 N지역에서 노인맞춤돌봄서비스를 제공하고 있는 생활지원사 12명을 대상으로 포커스그룹 면담(FGI)을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 생활지원사의 경험은 첫째, 생활지원사라는 이름, 그러나 그 밖의 이름, 둘째, 정해진 업무 시간, 그러나 무한한 업무 일환의 시간, 셋째, 제한된 이론, 그러나 그 이상의 실제, 넷째, 전염되는 우울, 그러나 그보다 큰 보람, 다섯째, 한 사람의 돌봄, 그리고 손잡은 사회의 돌봄으로 드러났다. 이 같은 결과를 근거로 노인맞춤돌봄서비스의 질 향상을 위해서는 ‘맞춤’의 의미, ‘지원’의 의미를 고찰하며 서비스를 제공할 필요가 있음을 제안하였다.

This study aimed to analyze the meaning of care service experiences as perceived by life support workers and to explore ways to improve the quality of customized care services for the elderly. To this end, a focus group interview (FGI) was conducted with 12 life support workers providing customized care services for the elderly in region N. The analysis revealed five main themes in the experiences of life support workers: (1) being called a “life support worker,” yet bearing many other names; (2) working within set hours, yet facing endless tasks; (3) limited theoretical knowledge, but boundless practical realities; (4) contagious depression, yet a greater sense of reward; and (5) individual care, expanding to community-supported care. Based on these findings, the study suggests that to enhance the quality of customized elderly care services, it is necessary to reflect on the meanings of “customization” and “support” in service provision.
