디아스포라 정체성 인식이 청소년의 세계시민성 함양에 미치는 영향: 다문화 리터러시 교육을 중심으로

The Impact of Diaspora Identity Awareness on the Development of Global Citizenship in Adolescents: Focusing on Multicultural Literacy Education

본 연구는 디아스포라 정체성 인식이 청소년의 세계시민성 함양에 미치는 영향에 대해 다문화 리터러시 교육을 중심으로 한 연구이다. 21세기 청소년들은 급속한 세계화와 다문화 환경 속에서 정체성과 시민성에 대한 체계적인 교육 없이 사회로 진출하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 다문화리터러시 교육을 통해 청소년들이 디아스포라 정체성을 인식하고, 세계시민의식을 함양하여 글로벌 사회에서의 역할을 자각하도록 돕는 것을 목표로 한다. 본 연구는 2024년 1월부터 8월까지 진행되었으며, 5월부터 7월까지 G시 K교회에서 6회에 걸쳐 동영상 시청과 심층 면담을 실시하였다. 연구참여자는 중·고등학생 4명이다. 코리안 디아스포라는 한민족의 다양성을 알리고, 다문화 포용을 촉진하는 역할을 수행하며, 다문화 인식 변화가 중요한 시점이다. 글로벌 이주 현상 속에서 교회 공동체는 타자에 대한 이해와 환대의 역할을 담당해야 한다. 이에 청소년들이 다문화사회에서 연합하고 사회구성원으로 성장할 수 있도록 연구가 필요하다. 다문화 리터러시 교육은 청소년들에게 자존감을 심어주고, 다양한 문화적 맥락에서 긍정적인 정체성을 형성하는 데 기여한다. 이를 통해 청소년들은 세계시민으로서 책임감을 갖고 지속가능한 공동체 형성에 기여하고자 한다.

This study explores the experiences of multicultural literacy education in fostering diaspora identity awareness and global citizenship among youth. In the 21st century, rapid globalization and multicultural environments expose young people to diverse influences without systematic education on identity and citizenship. This study aims to help adolescents recognize their diaspora identity and cultivate global citizenship through multicultural literacy education, enabling them to understand their role in a global society. The research was conducted from January to August 2024, with six multimedia-based education sessions and in-depth interviews held at K Church in Gwangju, South Korea, from May to July 2024. The participants included four middle and high school students. The Korean diaspora plays a crucial role in promoting the diversity of the Korean people and fostering multicultural acceptance. Given the increasing significance of global migration, church communities must embrace roles in understanding, welcoming, and supporting diverse individuals. Thus, it is essential to study how youth integrate into multicultural societies and develop their roles as social members. Multicultural literacy education enhances self-esteem and helps students form a positive identity within various cultural contexts. Ultimately, this process fosters responsible global citizenship and contributes to the creation of a sustainable and inclusive society.
