도박중독자에서 회복자로 살고 있는 도박중독자가정의 성인자녀 생애사 연구

A Life History Study of Adult Children of Gambling Addict Households in the Recovery Process from Gambling Addiction

본 연구는 도박중독자가정의 성인자녀가 도박중독자에서 회복자로 살아가는 삶에 대한 생애사 연구를 통해 도박중독자가정의 자녀 이해와 중독 대물림의 예방 및 회복 개입을 위한 기초 자료를 마련하고자 한다. 이를 위해 도박중독자가정의 성인자녀를 심층면담 하여 자료를 수집하였다. 연구 참여자 선택방법은 의도적 표본추출이다. 자료 분석은 Mandelbaum의 생애사 연구방법으로 삶의 영역, 전환점, 적응의 분석틀로 분석하였다. 분석결과 삶의 영역은 ‘자녀가 감당하기에 너무나 무서운 도박중독자가정이라는 십자가’로 7개범주로 분석되었고, 전환은 ‘죽음을 마주하고 찾게 된 진정한 회복’으로 5개범주로 분석되었다. 적응은 ‘균형 있게 나를 돌보는 삶을 살게 해준 교회 공동체’로 4개 범주로 분석되었다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 논의 후, 연구 의의와 추후 연구를 제안하였다.

This study employs in-depth interviews to explore the life histories of adult children from gambling addict households who are in the recovery process from gambling addiction. Participant was selected through purposeful sampling, and data analysis was conducted using Mandelbaum's life history study method, which analyzes life histories through three frameworks: dimensions, turnings, and adaptations. Analysis revealed that participant’s lives was characterized by the overwhelming burden of living in a gambling-addicted household, a theme that was subdivided into seven categories. Turning points in were often marked by a profound sense of recovery found after confronting death, explored in five subcategories. Finally, participants described adapting to their circumstances through the support of church communities that fostered balanced self-care, a theme divided into four categories. This study highlights the research significance of exploring the experiences of adult children from gambling addict households and suggests avenues for further research based on the findings.
