직업재활사의 발달장애인 대상 미술치료 프로그램 운영 및 지원 경험에 관한 질적 연구 : 장애인보호작업장을 중심으로

A Qualitative Study on Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists' Experiences and Perceptions of Art Therapy Programs for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities : Focusing on Sheltered Workshops

본 연구는 장애인보호작업장에서 근로활동을 수행하는 발달장애인을 대상으로 미술치료 프로그램을 운영한 직업재활사의 경험과 인식을 질적 연구 방법으로 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 미술치료 프로그램 운영 경험이 있는 직업재활사 7인을 대상으로 반구조화된 심층 인터뷰를 시행하고, 주제분석을 통해 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 미술치료는 생산성 중심의 보호작업장 환경에서 근로장애인에게 일상적 업무 스트레스에서 벗어난 ‘정서적 환기’와 몰입을 통한 ‘창의적 자아 재발견’의 계기를 제공하며 실질적인 변화를 이끌었다. 둘째, 그러나 직업재활사들은 프로그램 운영 과정에서 생산성 목표와 정서적 지원 사이의 구조적 긴장 및 공간·시간·인력 등 다층적 환경적 제약을 경험하며, 운영의 지속성에 어려움을 겪었다. 셋째, 기관 운영 철학의 중요성, 직업재활사와 미술치료사 간의 협력적 소통 체계, 미술치료사의 현장 중심적 전문성과 융통 성 있는 태도가 프로그램의 질적 성과를 좌우하는 핵심적 요인으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 장애인보호작업장이라는 특수한 맥락에서 직업재활사의 실제 경험을 구체적으로 드러내어, 미술치료의 심리·사회적 가치와 이를 구현할 수 있는 협력적 지원 체계 구축 및 현장 중심의 전문성 강화를 위한 통합적 접근 방안을 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

This qualitative study explored vocational rehabilitation specialists' experiences and perceptions regarding art therapy programs for workers with developmental disabilities in sheltered workshops. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with seven specialists, and data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings revealed that art therapy provided emotional relief and opportunities for creative self-discovery within productivity-focused environments. However, specialists encountered structural tensions between productivity goals and emotional support, alongside practical limitations like resource and scheduling constraints. Organizational philosophy, effective collaboration between specialists and art therapists, and the therapists’ professional responsiveness emerged as critical factors influencing program success. The study highlights the need for integrated support structures and strengthened field-based expertise in art therapy to effectively promote holistic rehabilitation.
