학교 미술교육에서 인공지능(AI) 활용의 교육적 의미와 미래 방향성: 해외 사례 분석을 중심으로

Educational Significance and Future Directions of AI Utilization in School Art Education: An Analysis of Overseas Cases

미술교육에서 인공지능의 사용은 학습 과정을 촉진하거나 학생들의 작업능력과 창의력 향상을 위하여 AI 응용기술 또는 AI 응용 소프트웨어의 형태로 사용하는 것을 의미한다. 국내에서도 최근 들어 AI와 함께 증강현실(AR) 및 가상현실(VR)과 같은 새로운 디지털 기술을 미술교육에 활용하거나 접목하기 위하여 디지털 환경에 대응하는 미술교육에서 AI의 적용과 활용에 관해서도 많은 연구가 진행되고 있는데, 특히 2022년 이후 본격적인 연구결과가 많이 제시되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 학교예술교육으로서의 미술교육의 철학과 방향성에 대해 논의하고 AI를 활용한 미술교육에 대한 최근의 해외 사례 3편을 살펴봄으로써 미술교육에서 AI의 필요성, 특히 창의성, 표현 능력등과 같은 미술교육의 의의에 미치는 영향에 대해 고찰하였다. 또한 미술교육에서 AI 도구의 활용에 대한 문제점과 장애요인에 대해 살펴봄으로써 미술교육의 향후 방향성에 대해 논의하고, 이러한 검토와 고찰을 통하여 향후 미술교육에서 AI의 활용에 대한 방향성을 제안하였다. AI에 대한 과도한 의존성이 아닌, 학습자의 독립적인 학습계획과 창의적 사고의 함양, 학생들 간의 소통과 상호반응을 통한 협력적인 작업의 필요성, 젊은 세대의 AI의 활용에 따른 개인정보보호 정책의 중요성에 대한 인식과 실천 방안, AI의 활용 효과를 극대화하기 위한 교사의 피드백에 의한 맞춤형 학습계획의 필요성, 학생들이 즐겁고 몰입감을 가지고 수업할 수 있는 플랫폼 개발의 필요성을 향후 방향성으로 제안하였다.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in art education means to use AI as the forms of AI application technologies or AI application software. In Korea, recently the researches on the use or integration of AI with AR and VR for the applications in the art education programs have been increased, especially from 2022. In this study, the philosophy and directions of the art education was discussed and with the review of three recent researches for the cognitions, feelings and opinions of students and educators after using AI in art education courses the necessity, especially in the view of enhancement of creativity of users was reviewed and discussed. With those review and discussions, 5 recommendations for the future direction of art education were suggested, including the independent learning plan and cultivation of creativity of students regarding to avoid the excessive reliance on AI, communications and cooperation between students with AI platform, the importance of security on the private and personal information during the use of AI software, provision of personalized learning program with the feedback of educators, and the development of advance platforms incorporating the AI technologies providing the students immersive and pleased study with AI.
