즐겁지만 충분한가? ‘즐거운 생활’ 교과서에 나타난 미술교육의 현주소

Is It Joyful but Sufficient? The Current Status of Art Education in the ‘Pleasant Life’Textbook

본 연구는 2022 개정 교육과정에 따라 새롭게 구성된 초등학교 1‧2학년 통합교과 ‘즐거운 생활’ 교과서에 나타난 미술교육 내용을 분석하고, 이를 미술교육학적 관점에서 비판적으로 고찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 2022 개정 초등 통합교과 교과서의 내용을 살펴보되, 미술과 활동 내용이 반영된 단원을 중심으로 교과서를 고찰하고 분석하였다. 이를 통해, 수업 활동 구성의 특성과 그 교육적 의의를 살펴보는 한편, 조형언어 습득, 매체 활용, 시각문화 이해 측면에서의 한계를 도출하였다. 현행 통합교과 체제에서 미술 교육은 활동 중심의 접근에 치중되어 있으며, 이는 창의적 표현 경험을 제공하는 반면, 기초적 미술 개념 및 시각문화 교육이 체계적으로 이루어지지 않는 문제를 초래하고 있다. 또한, 제한적인 재료와 활동 구성은 학생들의 표현력과 창의성 발달을 저해할 수 있으며, 교사의 미술교육 전문성 부족은 통합교과 내 미술 교육의 질적 저하로 이어질 가능성이 있다. 이에 본 연구는 미술 교과의 독립적 운영을 제안하며, 이를 통해 조형언어 기초 교육의 체계적 실시, 다양한 매체와 기법 학습 기회의 확대, 시각문화 감상 및 비평 교육의 강화, 교사 전문성 향상 프로그램 도입을 통해 미술 교육의 질적 향상을 도모하고자 한다. 이와 같은 교육적 접근은 통합교과에서의 활동 중심 수업을 넘어, 미술 언어의 기초적 개념과 다양한 매체 활용 능력을 심도 있게 함양할 수 있는 환경을 제공함으로써 학생들의 창의적 사고력과 비판적 시각을 함양하는 데 기여할 것이다. 또한, 향후 연구에서는 미술 교과의 독립적 운영이 학습자에게 미치는 구체적인 교육적 효과를 실증적으로 분석하고, 이를 실현하기 위한 프로그램 개발 및 효과성 검증이 병행되어야 할 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the contents of art education in the textbook of the integrated curriculum for the first and second grades of elementary school, which was newly constructed according to the 2022 revised curriculum, and to critically examine it from an art pedagogical point of view. The contents of the 2022 revised elementary integrated curriculum textbook were reviewed and analyzed, focusing on units reflecting art curriculum activities. Through this, while examining the characteristics of class activities and their educational significance, limitations in terms of acquiring formative language, using medium, and understanding visual culture were derived. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the 'Pleasant Life' textbook induces children's interest and participation by emphasizing play-oriented autonomous expression activities, but the framework of the content were insufficient to fully realize the essential goal of art education. In particular, it was found that expression activities were abundant, but basic formative education was insufficient, and the use of multiple medium and appreciation activities were also insufficient. Therefore, this study proposes the independent operation of art subject, which aims to improve the quality of art education by systematically implementing basic formative language education, expanding opportunities for learning various media and techniques, strengthening visual culture appreciation and criticism education, and introducing programs to improve teacher expertise.
