Objectives: This study examined the effectiveness of the Mind Master Program for patients who experienced trauma. Methods: This study recruited 35 meditation groups and 39 control groups from June 2022 to February 2023 from outpatients in the Department of Psychiatry at the National Medical Center. The Mind Master Program is a meditation program comprising four sessions. The meditation group performed the Mind Master Program, while the control group did not. Both groups maintained conventional psychiatric treatment, such as medication and psychotherapy. To examine the effect of the Mind Master Program, the PSTD Checklist for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5, PCL-5), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Korean version of Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview for Suicidality Disorders Studies (K-MINI), and Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) were administered before and after the Mind Master Program. Results: Repeated measures analysis showed the meditation program significantly reduced PHQ-9 and ISI in the meditation group compared to the control group. However, there was no significant difference between the groups with regard to PCL-5 and K-MINI scores. Conclusion: The Mind Master Program resulted in a significant decrease in depression and insomnia symptoms among patients who experienced trauma. The results of this study could be used to develop treatments for patients who have experienced trauma.
