노인의 디지털 접근성과 사회적 고립 간의 관계: 2023 노인 실태조사 기반 분석

The Relationship Between Digital Access and Social Isolation Among Older Adults: An Analysis Based on the 2023 Korean Elderly Survey

목적: 본 연구는 초고령사회 진입에 따른 노인의 사회적 고립 문제에 주목하여, 디지털 접근성과 사회적고립의 관계를 실증적으로 분석하고자 하였다. 연구방법: 2023년 보건복지부와 한국보건사회연구원이 수행한 ｢노인실태조사｣ 데이터를 활용하였으며, 만 65 세 이상 노인 총 10,078명을 분석 대상으로 하였다. 디지털 접근성은 기기 사용 여부, 일일 사용시간, 디지털 활용 능력 점수로 측정하였고, 사회적 고립은 단체 활동 참여, 여가문화시설 이용 여부등을 기준으로 산출된 총점으로 정량화하였다. 분석 방법으로는 기술통계, 교차분석, 다중회귀분석을 활용하였다. 연구결과: 디지털 기기 사용 시간과 수행능력은 사회적 고립 점수의 차이는 의미가 있으며, 스마트기기를 많이사용하거나 다양한 기능으로 사용할수록 사회적 고립 수준이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 디지털기기의 사용 여부는 사회적 고립과 관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 디지털 접근성은 노인의 사회적 고립을 완화하는 데 중요한 요인이나, 단순한 기기 보유보다 활용방식과 사회적 맥락이 중요한 요인으로 작용한다. 따라서 향후 고령층을 위한 맞춤형 디지털 활용교육, 사회참여 연계 프로그램, 디지털 소외계층 지원 체계 구축이 실질적 사회적 관계 회복으로이어질 수 있도록 구조적 접근이 요구된다.

Objective : This study aims to empirically analyze the relationship between digital access and t social isolation among older adults in the context of a rapidly aging society. Methods : Using data from the 2023 National Survey of Older Koreans, a total of 10,078 individuals aged 65 and older were analyzed. Key variables included digital device usage status, daily usage time, and digital proficiency. Descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and multiple regression analyses were conducted to explore the associations. Results : Digital device usage time and digital proficiency were significantly associated with lower levels of social isolation. Older adults who used their devices more frequently and with greater functional diversity reported lower levels of social isolation. In contrast, the mere possession or use of digital devices was not significantly related to social isolation. Conclusion : Digital access plays a meaningful role in mitigating social isolation among older adults; however, the quality and context of digital use are more influential than device ownership itself. Therefore, a structural approach is needed, including tailored digital literacy education, programs linking digital use to social participation, and support systems for digitally excluded groups to promote genuine social integration.
