부모애착이 자아존중감을 매개로 청소년의 교우관계에 미치는 영향

The Effect of Parental Attachment on Adolescents’ Peer Relationships: The Mediating Role of Self-Esteem

본 연구에서는 중·고등학생을 대상으로 부모애착 및 애착의 하위요인인 신뢰감, 의사소통, 소외감이 청소년의 교우관계에 미치는 영향에 대한 자아존중감의 매개효과를 살펴보았다. 부모애착 및 애착의 하위요인인 신뢰감, 의사소통, 소외감이 교우관계에 직접적으로 주는 영향이 더 클 것임을 가정하였다. 연구의 대상은 서울, 경기, 충청 지역의 중학교 1학년부터 고등학교 3학년까지의 167명이다. 연구결과를 요약하면 부모애착 및 애착의 하위요인은 애착이 높을수록, 부모에 대한 신뢰감이 높을수록, 부모와의 의사소통이 원활할수록, 부모에 대한 소외감이 낮을수록 교우관계가 원만한 것으로 나타났다. 부모애착이 자아존중감을 부분매개로 하여 청소년의 교우관계에 유의한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났고, 하위요인인 신뢰감과 의사소통이 교우관계에 주는 영향은 자아존중감을 완전매개로 하고, 소외감은 자아존중감을 부분매개로 하여 유의한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다.

This study examined the mediating effect of self-esteem on the relationship between parental attachment—including its sub-factors of trust, communication, and alienation—and peer relationships among middle and high school students. It was hypothesized that parental attachment and its sub-factors would have a stronger direct effect on peer relationships. The participants of the study were 167 students from grades 7 to 12 (middle school 1st grade to high school 3rd grade) in the Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Chungcheong regions. The results indicated that higher levels of parental attachment, trust in parents, effective communication with parents, and lower levels of alienation from parents were associated with more positive peer relationships. Parental attachment was found to have a significant influence on adolescents’ peer relationships, partially mediated by self-esteem. Trust and communication were shown to have a significant impact on peer relationships, fully mediated by self-esteem, while alienation had a significant impact partially mediated by self-esteem.
