Class II Malocclusion Treatment with High-Pull J-Hook and Microimplant

A 15-year-old female patient presented with a chief complaint of dental irregularity. She showed a severe crowding, constriction of the maxillary arch, large overjet, Class II canine and molar relationships, and upper lip protrusion. The maxillary first premolars and mandibular second premolars were extracted and Tweed-Merrifield directional force technology was performed. Two maxillary posterior orthodontic microimplants were used to reinforce an anchorage to retract the maxillary anterior teeth. High-pull J-hook headgear, cherry loop, and shoe-horn closing loop were used to protract and upright the mandibular posterior teeth and to retract and upright the mandibular anterior teeth. Consequently, Class I canine and molar relationships, good alignment of dentition, and improved facial profile were obtained.
