Analysis of Example Artworks Related to Art Activities in Textbooks Based on the 2022 Revised The Moral Life, Inquiring Life, and Pleasant Life Curriculum

본 연구는 초등학교 저학년에서의 미술교육 현황 파악의 일환으로 2022 개정 바른 생활, 슬기로운 생활, 즐거운 생활 교육 과정에 따른 교과서에 수록된 미술 활동과 관련된 예시 작품을 분석하였다. 총 16권의 교과서에서의 미술 활동 관련 예시 작품 제시 빈도를 분석한 결과 학생 작품이 64%였으며, 예시 작품 없이 삽화로 대체한 경우는 22%, 작가 작품은 3%로 나타났다. 예시 작품이 미적 체험을 제공하고, 학습 목표나 주제의 안내, 미술 지식 습득을 위한 정보 제공, 교수·학습 매체로서 기능함을 고려하였을 때 앞으로 초등학교 저학년 미술교육을 위해서 교과서에서는 다양하고 질 높은 예시 작품을 제공할 필요가 있다. 특히, 충분한 작품 정보의 제공, 삽화 형태가 아닌 실제 작품이 제공되어야 한다. 무엇보다도 초등학교 1~2학년 교과용 도서의 편찬 방향 등에 대한 연구가 이루어져야 한다. 이를 통해 초등학교 저학년 학생들의 발달 단계에 맞는 예시 작품으로 구성된 교과서가 집필될 수 있도록 하여 학생들의 미술에 대한 이해를 돕고, 풍부한 미적 경험을 제공해 줄 수 있어야 할 것이다.

This study examines the status of art education in the lower grades of elementary school by analyzing example artworks related to art activities in textbooks based on the 2022 Revised The Moral Life, Inquiring Life, and Pleasant Life Curriculum. Sixteen textbooks were examined to determine the frequency and types of example artworks. Student artworks accounted for 64% of the examples, 22% were replaced by illustrations without example artworks, and only 3% were works by professional artists. Given that example artworks provide aesthetic experiences, guide learning objectives and themes, convey art knowledge, and serve as instructional media, future textbooks should offer a wider variety of high-quality examples. Specifically, textbooks should include actual artworks with sufficient information rather than relying on illustrative substitutes. Such an approach will support the creation of textbooks aligned with the developmental stages of the lower-grade learners, enhancing their understanding of art and providing richer aesthetic experiences.
