대학생을 위한 세계시민교육 사례 연구

A Case Study on Global Citizenship Education for University Students

본 연구는 지방 소재 C대학의 재학생을 대상으로 세계시민교육을 교과목으로 진행한 교육 운영 사례를 분석하고, 수강생들에게 세계시민교육에 대한 요구를 조사하여 그 결과를 바탕으로 향후 대학생을 위한 세계시민교육의 개선 및 활성화 방안을 제시하였다. 세계시민교육의 교과목 운영 사례 분석을 위해 지방 소재 C대학에서 실시한 교과목 강좌의 교육 목표 및 내용 구성, 교수학습 방법 및 운영 방식, 평가 방법 및 교육 효과, 학생 요구 및 만족도 분석, 융합 및 특화 요소, 결과물 도출, 성과 공유 사례에 대해 알아보고, 교과목을 수강한 17명의 재학생을 대상으로 세계시민으로 살아가기 위해 필요한 점과 대학생을 대상으로 희망하는 교육에 대한 요구를 서술형(주관식) 질문으로 조사하였다. 그 결과 지방 소재 C대학에서 실시한 대학생을 대상으로 한 세계시민교육 교과목의 성과 결과로 4개 팀의 세계시민교육 활동 성과물 도출, 대학생을 대상으로 세계시민교육의 효과적인 교육 방법으로 학생주도적인 주제중심의 과정학습이 교과목 수강 학생들의 소감내용으로 나타났으며, 세계시민교육 교과목 수강학생의 교과목 참여 만족도는 5점으로 나타났으며, 수강생에게 조사한 내용 중 세계시민으로 살아가기 위해 필요한 내용으로는 문화존중과 소통, 예의, 상호존중이 필요하다고 나타났으며, 희망하는 세계시민교육 내용으로는 환경, 체험, 문화, 문화교류, 글로벌 관련으로 교육을 원하는 것으로 나타 났다. C대학의 세계시민교육 교과목 사례 분석과 수강생 요구에 대한 결과를 바탕으로 대학생을 대상으로한 세계시민교육의 교육 효과를 점검하였고, 향후 C대학 학생들의 세계시민교육 교과목 운영 개선 및세계시민교육 활성화 방안을 제시하였다.

This study analyzed the case of implementing global citizenship education as a curriculum subject for students at C University, a local university, and surveyed the students’ needs regarding global citizenship education. Based on the results, the study proposed measures for improving and revitalizing global citizenship education for university students in the future. To analyze the operation of the global citizenship education course, we examined the educational objectives and content structure, teaching and learning methods and operational procedures, evaluation methods and educational outcomes, student demand and satisfaction, elements of convergence and specialization, outcome derivation, and performance-sharing practices of the course conducted at C University. Additionally, we surveyed 17 students who took the course using open-ended questions to understand what they considered necessary for living as global citizens and their educational needs for university-level global citizenship education. The results were as follows. The global citizenship education course for undergraduate students at C University produced four team-based activity outcomes. Students’ reflections indicated that student-led, topic-centered, and process-based learning were effective educational methods for global citizenship education. The students’ satisfaction with course participation was rated as 5 out of 5. Among the surveyed topics, cultural respect and communication, manners, and mutual respect were identified as necessary competencies for living as global citizens. Furthermore, students expressed a desire for global citizenship education content related to the environment, experiential learning, culture, cultural exchange, and global issues. Based on the case analysis of C University’s global citizenship education course and the results of the student needs assessment, the educational effectiveness of global citizenship education for university students was evaluated. Future improvement plans and revitalization strategies for the operation of global citizenship education courses for C University students were proposed.
