The purpose of this study is to develop a measurement tool factor for life management competency among the five areas of core life competencies for students at risk for disabilities that can be measured empirically and scientifically. To this end, data from 1,678 middle school students with emotional and behavioral problems were analyzed using the NYPI cross-sectional survey of the National Youth Policy Institute. This was done by processing data through descriptive statistics, reliability tests, correlation analysis, and exploratory factor analysis using the SPSS 29.0 program, and confirmatory factor analysis was performed using the Amos 29.0 program to verify the model fit for the derived factors. As a result, the life management competency was derived as a final 23 items divided into two major areas (health task management and self-emotion management) and seven sub-factors. Each item was revised and supplemented through expert meetings to suit the characteristics of students with disabilities and at-risk groups, and this was intended to contribute to establishing a foundation for designing, applying, and analyzing the effectiveness of a life management competency class model.
