통합교과 ‘즐거운 생활’의 미술교육 내실화 방향 탐색: 스튜디오 씽킹(Studio Thinking)의 적용을 중심으로

Enhancing Art Education in the Integrated Subject ‘Pleasant Life’ through Studio Thinking

본 연구는 2022 개정 교육과정에 따른 초등학교 1-2학년 통합교과 ‘즐거운 생활’의 미술교육이 지닌 문제점을 분석하고 이를 개선하기 위한 방안으로 스튜디오 씽킹(studio thinking)을 적용하여 저학년 미술교육의 내실화 방향을 탐색하였다. 분석 결과 통합교과 미술 활동은 현재 주제 학습을 위한 도구적 수단과 기록 수단으로써의 제한적 활용, 표현 재료와 기법의 제한, 도안 중심 활동의 획일성, 발상과 성찰의 기회 부족, 표현에 편중된 미술 활동, 맥락성과 계열성 결여 등의 한계를 지닌 것으로 나타났다. 이에 본 연구는 8가지 스튜디오 사고 습관과 4가지 스튜디오 수업 구조를 중심으로 한 스튜디오 씽킹을 적용하여 자유로운 재료와 기법 탐색, 창의적 자기표현 도모, 성찰적 미술 학습 활성화, 종합적, 체계적 미술 교육과정 구성으로 저학년 학생들의 미술교육을 내실화할 수 있는 방향을 제안하였다. 특히 스튜디오 씽킹을 적용한 통합교과 차시 재구성을 통해 실제적 적용 사례를 제시함으로써 초등학교 저학년 미술교육의 본질 회복과 교육과정 연계 강화를 도모했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

This study analyzes the problems inherent in art education for first and second graders within the Integrated Subject ‘Pleasant Life’ under the 2022 revised national curriculum, and explores ways to enhance its effectiveness by applying the Studio Thinking framework. The analysis reveals that current art activities in the Integrated Subject are largely instrumental, serving as tools for thematic learning and means of documentation. These activities are constrained by limited materials and techniques, often rely on uniform, template-based approaches, and offer little room for ideation or reflection. Moreover, they tend to overemphasize art production while showing little attention to contextual and developmental relevance. In response, this study applies the Studio Thinking framework—centered on eight studio habits of mind and four studio structures for learning—to suggest a more robust approach to early elementary art education. This includes encouraging open-ended exploration of art materials and techniques, fostering creative self-expression, activating reflective learning, and constructing a comprehensive and systematic art curriculum. Notably, by presenting practical examples of restructured Integrated Subject lessons applying Studio Thinking, this study contributes to restoring the essential nature of art education in the early elementary grades and to strengthening curricular continuity.
