학교폭력 관계개선 조정위원의 조정경험에 대한 자전적 내러티브 탐구

An Autobiographical Narrative Inquiry into the Mediation Experiences of a School Violence Relationship Improvement Mediator

본 연구는 학교폭력 관계개선 조정위원의 조정경험의 의미를 심층적으로 탐색하고자 자전적 내러티브 탐구 방법을 적용하였다. 이를 위해 지난 5년간 조정위원으로 활동하며 기록한 개인 일지, 성찰 노트, 사례보고서 등을 현장텍스트로 수집하였다. 수집된 현장텍스트는 연구자의 경험을 시간의 흐름에 따라 풀어내는 ‘이야기하기(Telling)’ 과정을 거쳐 중간텍스트로 구성하였고, 이후 관련 이론 및 선행연구에 기반하여 경험의 의미를 재해석하는 ‘다시 이야기하기(Retelling)’를 통해 연구텍스트로 구성하였다. 연구 결과, ‘문제 해결사의 가면 벗기’, ‘회복적 이상과 제도적 현실 사이의 긴장과 줄타기’, ‘내면의 흔들림을 통한 성찰적 실천과 관계적 윤리의 구성’이라는 세 가지 핵심 주제를 도출하였다. 연구의 엄밀성은 질적 연구 전문가 및 동료 연구자와의 지속적인 협의와 검토를 통해 확보하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 결론에서는 연구 결과를 바탕으로 조정위원의 정체성이 ‘문제 해결사’에서 ‘상처 입은 치유자’로 구성되는 과정을 논하였으며, 내러티브 탐구의 정당성인 개인적, 실제적, 사회적 측면에서 연구의 의의를 제시하였다. 마지막으로 연구의 한계를 바탕으로 후속 연구를 제언하였다. 본 연구가 연구자 개인의 경험에 기반하여 일반화가 어렵고 다른 주체들의 관점을 담지 못한 점을 보완하기 위해, 다양한 조정위원들을 대상으로 한 집단적 연구나 다각적 사례 연구의 필요성을 제안하였다. 더불어 조정위원의 전문성 발달 과정을 추적하는 종단적 연구를 제안하며, 조정 경험의 입체적 이해를 위한 구체적인 연구 방향을 명시하였다.

This study applied an autobiographical narrative inquiry method to conduct an in-depth exploration of the meaning of the mediation experience of a school violence mediator. Field texts comprising the researcher’s personal journals, reflection notes, and case reports were collected over the past five years. The collected field texts were first composed into interim texts through a process of “Telling,” which narrates the researcher's experiences chronologically. Subsequently, these were reconstructed into research texts through “Retelling,” a process of reinterpreting the meaning of experiences based on relevant theories and prior research. The findings of this study yielded three core themes: “Taking Off the Mask of a Problem-Solver,” “The Tension and Tightrope Walk between Restorative Ideals and Institutional Reality,” and “Constructing Reflective Practice and Relational Ethics Through Internal Turmoil.” The rigor of the research was ensured through continuous consultation and review with qualitative research experts and peer researchers. In its conclusion, this study discusses the process of the mediator's identity being reconstructed from that of a “problem-solver” to a “wounded jealer,” and presents the significance of the research in terms of the personal, practical, and social justifications inherent to narrative inquiry. Finally, suggestions for future research are proposed based on the limitations of this study. To address the challenges of generalizability arising from its basis in a single researcher's experience and the exclusion of other participants' perspectives, this study suggests the need for future qualitative research involving diverse mediators or multifaceted case studies that include the voices of all stakeholders. Furthermore, it proposes longitudinal research to track the professional development process of mediators, thereby providing clearer insights into a multidimensional understanding of the mediation experience.
