이 연구는 초등학교 4학년 학생들을 위한 가족 관계를 이용한 화제 중심 영어 통합수업 방법을 제시한 것이다. 이를 위하여 이미 배운 다를 과목들을 영어 수업에 통합하였다. 과학 과목에서 그리스 신화에 나오는 오리온 별자리를 이용하여 가족 관계 낱말들을 익히도록 하였다. 이울러 미술과목에서 상상의 세계를 이용하여 오리온 별자리를 학생들이 상상하여 그리도록 하였다. 또한 ‘Finger Family’ 노래와 ‘Finger Tree’를 이용하여 가족 관계 낱말들을 익히도록 하였다. 초등영어 40분 수업에 학생들의 흥미를 유발할 수 있는 화제를 찾아서 다른 과목들을 이용한다면 다른 과목들에 대한 지식뿐만 아니라 영어 의사소통 능력도 기를 수 있다. 학교 현장에서 영어 수업 시간에 이와 같은 수업 방법들을 도입하여 교사들이 창의적이면서 학생들과 더욱 공감할 수 있는 수업을 개발하기를 기대해본다. 디지털 시대에 교사들이 학생들과 소통할 수 있는 창의적인 수업들이 개발되기를 많이 기대해본다.

This study examined how to teach English integratively using other subject contents related to family in a fourth-grade English classroom. This study proposed an integrative teaching plan using other subject contents in the fourth–grade English classroom. Students learned family-related words using Orion asterism in the Greek myth of the science subject. On top of that, They drew Orion asterism imaginatively using the imaginative world of fine art subjects. They also sing a song,‘Finger Family’and learned family-related words with that song. Finally, they learned family-related words using ‘Family Tree’. Teachers are able to teach English to students integratively using other subjects for forty minutes. As a result, students can learn knowledge of other subjects and enhance their communicative competence. It is concluded that teachers need to devise or develop an English integrative teaching and learning plan using other subjects. At that time, they should focus on the students' level. We are looking forward to it in the elementary English classroom. It is suggested that the school atmosphere should be changed into a better one in the school. It is also recommended that teachers be able to create teaching materials regarding the English integrative teaching plan in the school with no restrictions.
