Orthodontic Treatment Using Functional Appliances in Growing Patients with Skeletal Class II Malocclusion

This case report presents a patient with skeletal Class II malocclusion during the growth period, in whom the use of functional orthodontic appliance changed the patient’s neuromuscular pattern and achieved aesthetic facial changes. During the secondary orthodontic treatment period without extraction of premolars, continuous mandibular growth was induced, resulting in satisfactory and stable occlusal relationship along with harmonious aesthetics after treatment. Six years after completion of the treatment, the patient’s occlusal relationship was confirmed to be stable. (Clin J Korean Assoc Orthod.
