어린이집 교사의 3년 연임담임 경험에 대한 연구

A Study on Childcare Teachers’ Experience of Looping Practices for Three Years in a Childcare Center

본 연구는 어린이집에서 동일한 유아 집단을 3년간 연임담임한 교사의 경험을 탐구한 질적 연구이다. 연구 목적에 따라 3년 연임담임을 한 어린이집 교사 3명이 참여하였으며, 반구조화된 질문지를 활용한 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 주제어, 소주제어, 키워드 분석을 거쳐 결과를 도출하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 3년 연임은 교사와 학부모, 유아 간에 신뢰를 쌓아가는 과정으로 나타났다. 이는 ‘무언의 합의에 따른 연임 결정’, ‘학부모와의 벽 허물기’, ‘유아 성장에 대한 신뢰 형성’으로 구체화되었다. 둘째, 보육과정 운영의 효율성 측면에서 교사는 ‘유아의 특성을 깊이 이해하고 이를 수업에 반영’하였으며, ‘보육과정의 효율성과 연계성’이 강화되었다. 셋째, 연임 교사들은 보람과 책임감을 경험하였다. 이는 ‘교사의 책임 의식 강화’와 더불어 ‘유아와의 깊은 친밀감 형성’으로 나타났다. 넷째, 연임은 준비가 필요한 과정으로 드러났다. 이는 ‘파트너 교사와의 협력’, ‘보육과정 운영의 연속성을 확보하기 위한 준비와 교육’으로 분석되었다. 본 연구는 유아교육 현장에 연임담임제의 실천적 가능성과 교육적 의미를 제시하고, 교사 배치 방식에 대한 시사점을 제공한다.

This qualitative study examined the experiences of childcare teachers engaged in looping practices over three consecutive years in a childcare center. Three teachers who taught the same group of children for three years participated, and data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Thematic, subthematic, and keyword analyses were conducted. The findings revealed four main themes. First, three-year looping fostered trust, leading teachers to continue with the same group through unspoken agreement, breaking barriers with parents and strengthening confidence in children’s growth. Second, the effectiveness of the childcare curriculum was enhanced through a deeper understanding of children’s characteristics, as well as improved efficiency and continuity. Third, reappointed teachers reported heightened happiness, intimacy and responsibility. Fourth, looping required preparation, including collaboration with partner teachers and strategies to ensure curriculum continuity. This study highlights the practical feasibility and educational value of the looping system in early childhood education, offering implications for teacher assignment practices.
