정신장애인 평생교육의 인식 및 요구에 대한 경험적 연구

An Experience Study on the Awareness and Needs of Lifelong Education for Mentally Disabled

이 연구는 정신재활기관에서의 정신장애인의 평생교육에 대한 인식을 조사하고, 정신장애인 평생교육이 도입되기 위해 어떤 것이 요구되는지 살펴봄으로써, 정신장애인 평생교육의 도입 및 활성화 방안을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 정신재활기관의 운영자와 장애인평생교육기관의 중간관리자 총7명을 대상으로 질적사례연구방법을 활용하였으며, 주제분석방법(Thematic analysis)으로 정리하였다. 본 연구에서 나타난 결과는 상위범주3개, 하위범주 5개, 소주제13개가 도출되었으며, 평생교육으로써의 정신재활기관의 교육프로그램, 정신장애인평생교육 주체의 다변화, 정신재활에서 평생교육으로 전환, 전문성있는 정신장애인 평생교육으로 성장, 평생교육 활성화 정책제안으로 정신장애인 평생교육에 대한 인식과 요구를 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 정신장애인 평생교육을 위한 전문기관의 설립과 예산의 지원, 정신장애인 특성에 맞는 교육서비스 개발, 전문인력의 양성, 정신장애인 평생교육을 위한 지속적인 논의 등을 통한 정신장애인 평생교육 활성화 방안에 대한 정책적, 학술적 제언을 하였다.

The purpose of this study is to introduce and revitalize lifelong education for the mentally disabled by investigating the perception of lifelong education for the mentally disabled in mental rehabilitation institutions and looking at what is required to introduce lifelong education for the mentally disabled. This study used a qualitative case study method for a total of seven middle managers of mental rehabilitation institutions and lifelong education institutions for the disabled, and summarized it as a thematic analysis method. The results of this study resulted in 3 top- categories, 5 sub-categories, and 17 subtopics, The education program of mental rehabilitation institutions as lifelong education, diversification of lifelong education subjects for the mentally disabled, transition from mental rehabilitation to lifelong education, growth to professional lifelong education for the mentally disabled, and policy proposals to revitalize lifelong education were able to confirm the perception and demand for lifelong education for the mentally disabled. Based on these findings, policy and academic suggestions were made on ways to revitalize lifelong education for the mentally disabled through the establishment of specialized institutions and support of budgets for lifelong education for the mentally disabled, the development of educational services tailored to the characteristics of the mentally disabled, the training of professional manpower, and continuous discussion for lifelong education for the mentally disabled.
