환경그림책을 활용한 토의활동이 유아의 환경감수성 및 환경보전지식에 미치는 영향

Effects of Discussion Activities with Environmental Picture Books on Young Children’s Environmental Sensitivity and Environmental Conservation Knowledge

본 연구의 목적은 환경그림책을 활용한 토의활동이 유아의 환경감수성 및 환경보전지식에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것이다. 연구대상은 경기도 K시에 위치한 A유치원의 5세 유아 28명(실험집단 14명, 비교집단 14명)으로, 실험처치는 매주 3회씩 총 8주간 환경그림책을 활용한 토의활동을 실시하였다. 수집된 자료분석은 SPSS 29.0 통계 프로그램을 사용하여, 평균과 표준편차를 산출하고 공변량분석(ANCOVA)을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 환경그림책을 활용한 토의활동의 결과, 실험집단과 비교집단 간에 전체 환경감수성에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 또한 환경감수성의 모든 하위영역(민감성, 심미감 및 정서 안정, 동정과 연민)에서도 실험집단과 비교집단 간에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 환경그림책을 활용한 토의활동의 결과, 실험집단과 비교집단 간에 전체 환경보전지식이 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 아울러 환경보전지식의 모든 하위영역(물의 보전, 공기의 보전, 흙의 보전 및 재활용)에서도 실험집단과 비교집단 간에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과는 환경그림책을 활용한 토의활동이 유아의 환경감수성 및 환경보전지식에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤음을 시사한다.

This study aimed to examine how discussion activities that use environmental picture books affect young children’s environmental sensitivity and environmental conservation knowledge. A total of 28 five-year-old children (14 in the experimental group and 14 in the comparison group) attending kindergarten A in K City, Gyeonggi Province, participated in an experimental intervention consisting of discussion activities with environmental picture books conducted three times per week for eight weeks. Data underwent analysis using SPSS 29.0, with means and standard deviations calculated, and analysis of covariance conducted. Findings showed that, first, discussion activities with environmental picture books produced statistically significant differences in overall environmental sensitivity between the experimental and comparison groups. Significant differ ences between groups were also observed in environmental sensitivity subdomains: sensitivity, aesthetic and emotional stability, and sympathy and compassion. Second, statistically significant group differences were also found in overall environmental conservation knowledge and its sub domains: water conservation, air conservation, soil conservation, and recycling. These results suggest a positive effect of discussion activities based on environmental picture books on young children’s environmental sensitivity and environmental conservation knowledge.
