부모의 유아권리 존중 실제와 부모 대상 유아권리교육에 대한 유아교사의 생각

Early childhood teachers' perspectives on parents' respect for the rights of young children and education for parents on young children’s rights

본 연구는 유아교사가 생각한 부모의 유아권리 존중 실제와 부모 대상 권리교육의 필요 이유 및교육 내용을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 현직 유아교사 10명을 대상으로 면담을 실시하였고, Glesne(2016/2017)의 주제분석 방법에 기초하여 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 가정에서 유아권리존중에 대한 유아교사의 생각은 ‘과도한 사교육으로 인한 발달권 침해’, ‘주도성 제한에 따른 참여권 약화’, ‘상황적 제약으로 인한 보호권 약화’로 나타났다. 둘째, 부모 대상 유아권리교육이 필요한 이유에 대해 유아교사들은 ‘유아권리에 대한 이해 촉진’과 ‘유아권리에 대한 실천 강화’를 위해 필요하다고 하였다. 셋째, 부모대상 유아권리교육의 내용에 대해 ‘유아를 독립적 존재로 인식하기’, ‘양육의 기준 정립하기’, ‘유아의 의견존중하기’, ‘타인의 권리를 존중하고 배려하는 태도 고양하기’가 포함되어야 한다고 보았다. 본 연구는 유아교사의 인식을 바탕으로 부모의 유아권리 존중 실제를 파악하고, 부모 대상 권리교육이 필요한 이유와 교육에필요한 내용을 도출함으로써, 향후 관련 교육 개발을 위한 기초자료를 제공하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this study was to explore early childhood teachers’ perspectives on parents’ respect for the rights of young children, as well as the reasons why rights education for parents is necessary and what content it should include. To this end, in-depth interviews were conducted with ten in-service early childhood teachers, and the data were analyzed based on Glesne’s (2016/2017) thematic analysis method. The findings were as follows. First, teachers perceived that the rights of young children were not sufficiently respected at home due to ‘infringement on the right to development caused by excessive private education’, ‘weakening of the right to participation due to restricted autonomy’, and ‘weakening of the right to protection due to situational constraints’. Second, teachers emphasized that rights education for parents is needed to ‘promote understanding of the rights of young children’ and to ‘strengthen the practice of respecting these rights’. Third, the teachers suggested that rights education for parents should include content such as ‘recognizing young children as independent individuals’, ‘establishing standards for child-rearing’, ‘respecting children’s opinions’, and ‘fostering attitudes that respect and consider the rights of others’. This study is significant in that it identified how early childhood teachers perceive parents’ respect for the rights of young children and derived foundational data for the development of rights education programs for parents.
