본 연구는 연구자가 겪어온 우울을 무의식적으로 표현한 미술작업과 꿈들을 분석하고, 주제를 연결하여 그려낸 그림들과 그 해석을 통해 우울에 내재한 창조적인 힘을 발견하여 내적 갈등을 통합하고 치유하는 과정을 담고 있다. 이는 우울의 다른 측면과 그 변화과정에 중점을 두어 이를 ‘창조적 우울’로 정의하였고, 본 연구는 그과정을 자문화기술지의 연구방법으로 상세하게 탐구하였다. 또한 분석심리학의 상징해석 관점을 해석 도구로서연구방법에 적용하였다. 연구의 목적은 창조적 우울의 경험에 대한 탐구이며, 연구절차는 그림과 꿈 노트 등 수집된 자료에 대한 해석과 그에 대한 반응 그림으로 이루어진다. 연구결과는 창조적 우울에 대한 두 가지 ‘과정’ 과 ‘경험’의 정의로 요약된다. 첫 번째 ‘과정’은 무의식적 미술 표현에 담긴 우울의 의미 해석. 두 번째 ‘경험’은점차 변화되는 상징들로 표현된 꿈과 그림의 교차 분석. 이러한 연구의 결과를 통해 연구의 의의와 제한점에 대한 논의와 ‘경험에 대한 의미’를 정의하고, 연구의 결과에 비추어 창조적 우울이 개인의 내적인 고통과 그림자를안전하게 표현할 수 있는 가능성을 탐구하였다. 이러한 연구의 결과를 통해 연구의 의의와 제한점에 대하여 논의하였다.
This research demonstrated the self-healing process of a researcher through analyzing artworks and dreams during deeply depressed moments and discovered creativity by connecting images in artworks and interpreting them. The study researched depressive experiences through the auto-ethnography method and identified them as ‘creative depression’. This research applied Jung’s symbolic interpretation method as the hermeneutic tool to find and enhance meanings. The study explored the experiences of ‘creative depression', and consisted of the interpretation of collected data. The research summarized results into two definitions of ‘process’ and ‘experience’ for ‘creative depression’. The first ‘process’ was the meaning of depression interpretation contained in unconscious art expression. The second ‘experience’ was the cross-analysis of dreams and pictures expressed as gradually changing symbols. Based on those results, ‘the meaning of experience’ represented the therapist's identity, the therapist's ability to create a therapeutic space, and the meaning of sharing and practicing values, respectively. By the results of the study, ‘creative depression’ provided an opportunity to safely express an individual's inner pain and shadow to convert it into a personal image. Based on the results, the significance and limitations of the study were discussed.
