본 연구는 미혼 장애인의 가족건강성이 향후 결혼의향에 미치는 영향을 자아존중감의 매개효과를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 2021년도 4차 「장애인삶 패널조사」에 참여한 만 19세 이상의 미혼 장애인 755명의 자료를 분석하였으며, Baron & Kenny(1986)의 3단계 회귀분석과 Sobel Test를 통해 매개효과를 검증하였다. 또한, 이러한 가족건강성, 결혼의향, 자아존중감 관계가 장애유형에 따라 다른지 살펴보기 위해, 장애유형별 추가 분석을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 미혼 장애인의 가족건강성 수준이 높을수록 자아존중감 수준이 높게 나타났으며, 높은 자아존중감 수준은 높은 수준의 결혼의향으로 이어졌다. 이러한 가족건강성과 향후 결혼의향 간 관계에서의 자아존중감의 매개효과는 통계적으로 유의한 수준(Sobel Z = 3.74, p<.001)으로 나타났다. 단, 장애유형별 분석 결과, 유의한 매개효과는 신체장애 유형, 지적 및 정신장애 유형에서는 나타났으나, 시청각장애 유형에서는 발견되지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 연구의 시사점에 대해 논의하였다.
This study examined the mediating effect of self-esteem on the relationship between family strengths and the intention to marry among unmarried individuals with disabilities. Analyzed were data from 755 unmarried individuals aged 19 and older who participated in the 4th wave (2021) of the "Disability and Life Dynamics Panel". The mediating effect was tested through Baron and Kenny’s (1986) three-step regression analyses and the Sobel tests. Supplementary subgroup analyses were conducted to determine whether the relationships among family strengths, marriage intention, and self-esteem varied by type of disability. We found that higher levels of family strengths were associated with higher levels of self-esteem, which in turn were linked to stronger intentions to marry. The mediating effect of self-esteem on the relationship between family strengths and marital intention was statistically significant (Sobel Z = 3.74, p < .001). However, this significant mediating effect was observed in individuals with physical, developmental, and mental disabilities, but not in those with visual or hearing impairments. Based on these findings, this study discussed implications and future directions.
