- 11
Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of organizational communication and person-centered nursing activities on patient safety nursing activities among nurses working in integrated nursing service wards. Methods: A descriptive survey was conducted with 130 nurses working in integrated nursing service wards at general hospitals or higher, located in the Capital and Chungcheong regions. The collected data were analyzed using t-tests, ANOVA, Scheffé’s post-hoc test, Pearson’s correlation, and multiple regression analysis. Results: Patient safety nursing activities showed a significant positive correlation with person-centered nursing activities (r=.436, p<.001). Organizational communication also showed a significant positive correlation with person-centered nursing activities (r=.340, p<.001). Multiple regression analysis indicated that position and person-centered nursing activities were significant predictors of patient safety nursing activities with an explanatory power of 20.3%. Conclusion: To enhance patient safety nursing activities in integrated nursing service wards, it is essential to provide high-quality person-centered nursing care and to establish educational and organizational support systems.
