대학 학생성공 경험의 주요 의미와 유형 탐색 연구

A Text Network Analysis of the Core Meanings and Categories of University Student Success Experiences

연구목적: 본 연구는 대학생의 학생성공 경험을 바탕으로 핵심어와 유형을 도출하여 학생성공의 구체적인 특성을 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 통해 대학차원의 학생성공에 대한 이해를 심화하고 학생 맞춤형 교육지원을 위한 대학 교육의 실천적 방향을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구방법: H대학에서 2024년 ‘도전과 공유대회’에 출품된 69편의 에세이를 분석자료로 활용하였으며, 텍스트 네트워크 의미연결망분석을 통해 주요 핵심어의 출현빈도와 상호 연결구조를 분석하였다. 아울러 CONCOR 기법을 적용하여 학생성공 경험의 특성을 유형화하고 각 유형별 의미를 탐색하였다. 연구결과: 첫째, 핵심어는 생각(359), 수업(298), 시간(239), 활동(224), 사람(197) 등의 핵심어가 높은 빈도를 보였으며, 대외-활동, 외국인-친구, 문제-해결, 팀-프로젝트 등의 핵심어가 서로 연결된 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, CONCOR 분석을 통해 도출된 학생성공 경험 유형은 자기성찰과 진로탐색 경험, 학업향상을 위한 수행 노력 경험, 목표설정과 문제해결을 통한 성장 경험, 수업과 다양한 활동을 연계한 실행 경험의 네 가지로 구분되었다. 논의 및 결론: 본 연구는 대학에서 학생들이 경험한 실제 학생성공의 언어적 표현을 토대로 학생의 학생 성공 경험에 대한 깊이 있는 이해를 제공하고 대학교육이 학생 개별 특성에 적합한 지원 전략을 마련하는 데 기초자료를 제공하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

Purpose: This study aims to identify the core meanings and categories embedded in university students’ experiences of success, and to explore the specific characteristics and typologies of student success in higher education. The ultimate goal is to deepen institutional understanding of student success and to provide practical insights for developing personalized educational support strategies at the university level. Method: To this end, Sixty-nine essays submitted to the 2024 “Challenge and Sharing Contest” at H University were collected and analyzed. Text network analysis was used to examine the frequency and structural connections of keywords representing student success experiences. Additionally, the CONCOR (convergence of iterated correlations) method was used to classify types of experiences and to explore the thematic meanings associated with each cluster. Results: The analysis revealed that the most frequent keywords were “thinking,” “class,” “time,” “activity,” and “people.” Strong semantic linkages were also observed between word pairs such as “extracurricular–activity,” “international–friend,” “problem–solving,” and “team–project.” Based on CONCOR clustering, four distinct categories of student success experiences were identified: experiences of self-reflection and career exploration; efforts to improve academic performance; growth through goal setting and problem solving; and execution through the integration of coursework and diverse activities. Conclusion: This study offers a deeper understanding of how students experience success in university and provides practical insights for developing support strategies that address individual student needs.
