영화<타짜>와 <노팅힐>, TV 드라마<도깨비>를 통해 본 메인 플롯과 서브플롯의 상호 연관성 연구

A Study on the Interrelationship between Main Plot and Subplot through Film<The War of Flower>, <Notting Hill>, and TV Drama <Goblin>

Among the many concepts of writing, the plot has traditionally taken a prominent place in the creative field. Many writers are still fiercely competing to efficiently construct plots that can guarantee commercial viability. However, most of the theories are composed of explanations and examples of core concepts, which have limitations in explaining the problems that arise in the actual creative process, that is, the interrelationships between concepts. The hypothesis established in this paper is that the controlling idea acts as an aesthetic standard in fiction, and the interrelationship between the main plot and the subplot forms a relationship in the causality that constitutes the controlling idea. As a result of analyzing the two films <The War of Flower>, <Notting Hill> and one TV series <Goblin>, it was found the events composing value were closely related to the main plot of the work. The characteristics of the main plot and the subplot forming the causal relationship resulted. Therefore, the hypothesis that the main plot and subplot are related constitutes the controlling idea of the work in the causal relationship is partially valid. Apart from some of the proven theories, the result has been difficult to generalize the similarities among the two films and one TV series due to the narrowness of the analytical text. In order to grasp the principles capable of generalizing the interrelationship between plots in the future, a broader analysis of works in various genres is required.
