A Strategy for the Professional Human Resources of Next-generation Broadcasting Contents

This study examines the technical characteristics of UHD and its changes in the manufacturing process, and discusses how to nurture university manpower. The main characteristics of UHD contents creation are file based production, large file processing, and DI(Digital Intermediate) process for post production. The production environment of UHD has demanded a new area of manpower. The UHD contents production environment characterized by high quality and large capacity requires production personnel with expertise in the IT field throughout all stages of production including acquisition and storage of broadcast contents, efficient data management and distribution at each stage of production. In addition, trends in changes in production workflows require not only post-production workers based on broadcasting technical factors, but also knowledge and practice on new technologies for planning and production staff as well as for filming. Therefore, it is necessary for preliminary personnel who will enter the broadcasting field in the future to be educated about their duties at the same time as their profession. The manpower in the technical field needs to understand the production area, and the manpower in the production field needs to understand and communicate the duties of the technology field.
