An Exploratory Study on Webtoonic Realism

This study focuses on the popularity of webtoons and the active media-conversion, so it is aimed to summarize that the characteristics of webtoons affect the story-world created by other media and to conceptualize it as webtoonic realism. In order to conceptualize webtoonic realism, the condition of the realism of the visual media realized in the narrative and the figurative level is summarized as the expansion of the world view and the restructuring process of the verisimilitude. Webtoonic realism is based on the realism of comics and is realized by expanding the possibility of image expression according to the development of digital technology in the figurative dimension. In the narrative level, Webtoonic realism is realized by accepting humorous and everyday episodes based on the same generation sensibility of 10 to 20, B class emotion and byeong-mas code as the world view of the story-world. In addition, Webtoonic realism is influencing the condition of realism of various visual media through the process of media-conversion to other media and intermedial relationship.
