This study is analysis of the later films Kurosawa in old age produced, <Ran>(1985), <Dreams>(1990), <Rhapsody in August>(1991) and <Madadayo>(1993). In these films there are the common features such as a looseness of the narrative, a artificial and excessive colors, long take without close-ups, jump cuts, and a contrapuntal sound experiments. While the style of post-war films from <Seven Samurai>(1954) to <Kagemusha>(1980) was the dynamics of the audio-visual based on the great epic, the late films of Kurosawa adopted the auteurism form. These films have been blamed for the same reason that they openly reveals Japanese militarism and nationalism. As a result, its stylistic features have also been ignored. Nevertheless, in his late films there were the stylistic experiments reflected on film media. Secondly, while his post-war films have confirmed the ability of the director as a filmmaker, the late works have showed the artistic and experimental attitude as a auteur.
