An Analysis of Strategy for Success and a Cause of a Box Office Big Hit－Based on Cable TV “eply 1988”－

“Reply 1988”is an animate drama which gave audience human touch. It has well-made story structure and a courtesy for humanity. While audience were watching it, they could feel themselves going up and down depending on each episode with joy and sadness. The just moment egoism and individualism get into full swing and children even harm their parents, people in modern society get cold-hearted and lost. In this view, <Reply 1998> plays a major role in medicine for those social circumstances. <Reply 1998> establishes a chance to reflect how we live in this modern society where we fiercely compete to survive in a daily life and what is the most valuable in our lives. It not only makes the audience think the reason Korea is called “Hell Korea”or “the republic of suicide but also suggests that we need to look around our neighbors and recover our warm-hearted mind. That is the theme of <Reply 1998>. As mentioned earlier, <Reply 1998> conveyed an affectionate and moving story. I started this research with the hope that our society will change into a place which gets more warm people than unfriendly people. This study is researched that I analyze social trend on contemporary culture and study the paradigm of TV drama’ mega hit through <Replay 1988>, essence of Dramaturgy.
