현대 한국 실험영화 생산주체의 고유성 탐구－서울국제실험영화페스티벌 10년을 중심으로－

A Study on the Distinct Characteristic of Contemporary Korean Experimental Film Production －International Experimental Film in Seoul Festivalover the Past 10 Years－

As other types of films except for narrative one, called ‘experimental film’, are produced now, it is necessary to actively examine what contemporary Korean experimental film is and this study will answer to this question in a round about way by shaping the image of ecosystem in which contemporary Korean experimental films are produced. This study attempts to examine the current status and challenges of group of auteurs producing the contemporary Korean experimental films since the 2000s and Experimental Film & Video Festival in Seoul(EXiS) marking its 10th anniversary this year as a community of filmauteurs and search their distinct characteristic as contemporary Korean experimental film production. It briefly looks into the formation process of the group of contemporary Korean experimental film auteurs, understands the distinct characteristic through auteur theory and tracks the current status and its challenges through a diachronic study of EXiS over the past 10 years. This is not an attempt to homogenize Korean experimental film auteurs constrainedly by fitting them under a category of Korea, but an attempt to identify what the prototype of Korean auteurs is and what domestic production environments surrounding them look like.
