Not only film-makers but also outsiders often wonder how certain shots in movies are executed. Unfortunately, there is very shallow database built up within Korean film industry on that subject matter. However, Korean film industry can't be blamed for that because the situation is simply based on supply and demand law. In other words, the cost required for building that database is way too high, but the number of professional film-makers who must know that database is way too low. For that reason, great number of Korean cinematographers and gaffers depend on foreign publications like 「Reflections」 released by ASC which are rather difficult for them to read, or they directly contact the film-makers who have the knowledge they need. The main purpose of this paper is to make them save the time getting cinematographic information so they can spend that extra time creating more advanced look of images. I picked a few recent Korean films with stunning visual, then I did thorough cinematographic evaluation on them in series. Series1 was on Friend , Series 2 was on Duelist , Series3 was on Wanee and Junah , and for Series4, I chose Pain. I picked Pain for number of reasons. The cinematographer of the film is Mr. Ki S. Hwang. He shot Pain on film but he says "there were no reasons to shoot this movie on film." Why did he do that then? He previously shot The Best Moments of Our Lives . Since the director of this movie did not really focus on the visual aspects, he didn't want this movie as his last film work. The digital age has come and it's coming faster in Korea more than any other places on earth. He doubts that he is going to have more opportunities to shoot movies on film. If that's the case, the movie Pain locates itself at the very important turning point on the flow of the visual technology development. I highly value that historical point and moment. As a film enthusiast, I almost felt obligated to do a technological research on this movie.
